Do you know what I want right now?

Hai!!! I want to eat sushi - tiger roll, sushi with salmon skin and with avocado - right now. (ToT) Yosh! Maybe I'll drag Jorell to Kyoto some time this week or next week. Hehe :P

I wasn't actually craving for sushi until a while ago when I was reading Ouran High School Host Club there was this word "tanuki". So, out of curiosity I Googled this word regardless of the image of the animal called tanuki on the manga.

According to Wikipedia, the translation of Tanuki in english is raccoon dog. And apparently, tanuki is an important part of Japanese culture. If there is the Lucky Cat porcelain statues that you usually see in Chinese restaurants, there is also the Tanuki statue. And just like the Lucky Cat that is believed to bring good luck, Tanuki statue is believed to bring fortune because of its eight traits. The eight traits are: (1) a bamboo hat that protects against trouble, (2) big eyes to perceive the environment and help make good decisions, (3) a sake bottle that represents virtue, (4) a big tail that provides steadiness and strength until success is achieved, (5) over-sized testicles that symbolize financial luck, (6) a promissory note that represents trust, (7) a big belly that symbolizes bold decisiveness, and (8) a friendly smile.(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tanuki)

Okay, so you might be wondering what is the connection of tanuki statue to my sushi cravings. Well, the last time I was at Kyoto, I remember laughing at this weird-looking statue seated at the counter that looks like a monkey. It actually looks like this :

Yup. It was a tanuki statue I was laughing at. (ToT) Gomen nasai!! I was ashamed upon realizing my mistake due to my obliviousness. Next time, it's better for me to shut up so that I won't make silly remarks. Sumimasen Deshita!

So to sum it up : Tanuki statue = Kyoto = Sushi :)

That's all for now! Next time I'll blog about my favourite shoujo manga's. Hehe :P
